Today we’re drifting the Escambia River in NW Florida, setting bush hooks for catfish and searching river beasts in the murkey waters!
The Escambia is a huge, slow river that begins in south alabama and streams through the florida panhandle to Pensacola Bay. It’s a river that I invested many hours on as a kid, fishing, hog searching, outdoor camping, and so on
. On this journey I’ll have my earliest young boy Coye and my nephew Philip. We wound up making the 40 mile journey from Bluff Springs to the bay in 3 days and discovered some quite remarkable things along the method. We had an open canoe, a kayak, and an Orion cooler filled with food! For outdoor camping, we simply oversleeped hammocks with a rain fly for the dew. The SeekOutside DST can be found in convenient for that.
We paddled into a backwater slough that I fished as a kid to set some bush hooks and wound up capturing a couple of catfish and 2 allagator snapping turtles, among which was substantial! These turtles can be ancient. They’re a safeguarded types in Florida so we launched them as quickly as we could. The turtleman would be happy!
We likewise discovered some fantastic hog indication which I’ll need to review next winter season. I ‘d like to renovate this float journey and bowhunt hogs along the method.
